Abstract

The dynamic capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, has been confronted with a major challenge in the
form of a high volume of traffic accidents, with as many as 1640 incidents recorded in just five
years. Nevertheless, this number probably underestimates the actual severity of the issue,
suggesting that there is a more urgent problem at hand. The consequences of these accidents reach
deep into the city's economic and societal framework, leading to lower productivity, taxing
healthcare systems, and causing psychological trauma to communities. The study also highlights
the alarming issue of drug addiction among certain Bangladeshi drivers, which increases the
frequency of traffic accidents. The Bangladesh Child Rights Forum has brought attention to the
significant increase in child mortality resulting from these incidents, highlighting the need for
comprehensive measures to protect children's safety when driving. To sum up, the report
emphasizes how critical it is for everyone to work together to create a safer Dhaka, one in which
the threat of traffic accidents disappears and the city may grow without constant fear.
