This study presents the development of a smart vacuum cleaner robot utilizing the Arduino Uno microcontroller to enable autonomous and efficient household cleaning. Designed to navigate diverse indoor environments, the robot integrates ultrasonic sensors for real-time obstacle detection and motor drivers for precise movement, ensuring seamless operation without human intervention. The primary objective is to optimize both hardware and software components to enhance cleaning efficiency, reliability, and adaptability across different floor types, including tiles, carpets, and hardwood. The robotic system is equipped with multiple sensors and functional modules that work collaboratively to achieve intelligent navigation and effective dust and debris collection. Ultrasonic sensors continuously scan the surroundings, allowing the robot to detect obstacles and adjust its path accordingly, thus preventing collisions and improving coverage. The Arduino Uno serves as the processing unit, interpreting sensor data and executing control algorithms to facilitate autonomous movement. A suction fan and brush mechanism form the core of the cleaning system, efficiently capturing dirt particles and enhancing overall cleaning performance.
Additionally, the system incorporates an emergency alert feature that detects potential accidents or anomalies during operation. In such cases, the robot activates a GSM module to send an SMS notification containing GPS coordinates to predefined emergency contacts, including medical services and family members. This rapid alert mechanism enhances safety by ensuring timely intervention, thereby mitigating risks associated with unattended or unexpected incidents. The proposed system emphasizes energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness, making it a viable solution for a wide range of users. By leveraging embedded technology and autonomous control algorithms, the smart vacuum cleaner robot contributes to the advancement of intelligent home automation and robotics, offering a practical, affordable, and efficient cleaning solution.
