People with special needs are among those who are mostly ignored while designing residential
buildings. Special needs people include children, youth, elderly, physically challenged, visually
impaired, hearing impaired or with a mental disability. The current paper tries to showcase a
checklist developed to study the Existing Barriers and Accessible Features for People with Special
Needs in Residential Buildings for People with Special Needs. The checklist can be helpful to
researchers who want to explore suitable design features to incorporate in residences designed for
people with special needs. Existing barriers refers to the more difficulty found in residential
buildings, which can hinder their activities and movement. Accessible features in the checklist, it
