Abstract

This study highlights the current situation of Kavoor Lake, located in Mangaluru City of Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka, India. The lake, once a vital source of groundwater recharge and biodiversity, is now under threat due to urban encroachment, sewage inflow, and lack of systematic restoration. A field investigation, discharge computation, water quality assessment, and community perception survey were conducted. The results indicate eutrophication, poor water quality, and degradation of aquatic ecosystems. Restoration measures are proposed focusing on ecological rejuvenation, community engagement, and sustainable lake management practices.
