Abstract

The growing need for efficient and cost effective healthcare solutions has fuelled the development of novel medical devices. The design and implementation of a Smart Ventilator system employing Arduino microcontroller technology is presented in this study. The suggested ventilator system intends to alleviate existing ventilator constraints by including smart features for improved patient care and ease of use.
The Smart Ventilator's fundamental control unit is Arduino, which is used to create a responsive and flexible device by exploiting its flexibility and programmability. A multitude of sensors are used in the system to measure essential physiological characteristics such as respiratory rate, tidal volume, and oxygen saturation. These sensors give real time data feedback, allowing the ventilator to modify breathing parameters dynamically based on the patient's respiratory requirements.
The Smart Ventilator's networking and data sharing capabilities are one of its distinctive features. The device may transfer patient data to a centralized monitoring system using wireless communication modules, allowing healthcare practitioners to remotely monitor several patients at the same time. This feature allows for more prompt interventions and lessens the stress on healthcare professionals, particularly in critical care settings.
The ventilator's user interface is built with simplicity in mind, with an intuitive graphical display and a user friendly control panel. This ensures that healthcare workers with little training can simply configure breathing settings and monitor patient condition. Furthermore, the Smart Ventilator has safety features such as alerts for aberrant parameter values and a fail safe mechanism to assure patient safety in the case of a system failure.
