Abstract

With increasing environmental concerns and a need for sustainable energy solutions, efficient waste management has become imperative. This study introduces a compact, cost-effective biogas generation unit designed for domestic kitchen waste. The unit effectively converts organic waste into biogas, providing a renewable energy source while addressing the challenges of space constraints, cost efficiency, and energy reliability. The system features a compact anaerobic digester with an integrated temperature maintenance mechanism to optimize microbial activity and ensure consistent biogas production under varying environmental conditions. Utilizing low-cost materials and simple design principles, the unit is affordable and accessible for both urban and rural households. In addition to producing biogas suitable for cooking and other energy applications, the system generates nutrient-rich digestate, promoting a zero-waste approach. This innovative solution supports environmental sustainability by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on non-renewable energy sources. The design’s scalability and adaptability to different climates make it a practical and eco-friendly alternative for households worldwide.
