Abstract

This study presents the design and fabrication of a potato-cutting machine tailored specifically for producing finger chips. Finger chips, also known as French fries, are a popular snack item worldwide, and their production demands efficient cutting processes to meet market demands. Traditional manual cutting methods are labor-intensive and time-consuming, prompting the need for automated solutions. The proposed potato-cutting machine integrates principles of mechanical engineering to streamline the production of finger chips. The machine incorporates a simple frame structure to support the cutting mechanism and ensure stability during operation. A motor-driven cutting blade system is designed to precisely slice potatoes into uniform finger chip shapes, optimizing productivity and quality.
Key considerations in the design process include safety, efficiency, and ease of operation. Safety features such as emergency stop mechanisms are implemented to minimize the risk of accidents and ensure user safety. Fabrication of the potato cutting machine involves the utilization of readily available materials and components, ensuring cost-effectiveness and ease of maintenance. The design allows for scalability and customization to accommodate diverse production requirements and preferences. Through experimentation and testing, the performance of the potato-cutting machine is evaluated in terms of cutting precision, throughput, and energy efficiency. Comparative analysis with conventional manual methods highlights the advantages of automation in enhancing productivity and consistency in finger chip production. Overall, the fabricated potato-cutting machine offers a practical solution for food processing industries seeking to optimize the production of finger chips. Its innovative design and efficient operation have the potential to revolutionize potato processing techniques, meeting the growing demand for high-quality snack products in the global market.
