This theoretical exploration investigates the impact of blockchain technology on e-commerce security and trust within the Indian context. As India continues to experience rapid growth in digital transactions and online retail, ensuring security and building consumer trust have become paramount challenges. With its decentralized, transparent, and immutable ledger system, blockchain technology offers promising solutions to these challenges. The research begins by outlining the current state of e-commerce security and trust issues in India, such as data breaches, fraud, and lack of transparency. It then introduces blockchain technology, explaining its fundamental principles and how these can address the challenges above. By employing a theoretical framework that integrates concepts from information security, trust theory, and technology adoption, this study explores the potential mechanisms through which blockchain can enhance security measures and foster greater consumer confidence. Key areas of focus include the role of blockchain in securing transactions, preventing fraud, ensuring data integrity, and providing transparency in supply chains. Theoretical models are applied to assess how blockchain could alter consumer perceptions and behavior towards online shopping.
Additionally, the study examines possible barriers to blockchain adoption in India, such as technological limitations, regulatory issues, and market readiness. The findings suggest that blockchain technology holds significant promise for improving e-commerce security and trust. However, its successful implementation in India will require addressing various challenges, including technological infrastructure, legal frameworks, and consumer education. This theoretical exploration provides a foundation for further empirical research and practical implementation strategies
