Abstract

Sustainability has recently gained prominence in manufacturing industries all around the world.  Based on other scholars' research, the most prevalent techniques include green purchasing, eco-design, environmental cooperation, and reverse logistics, whereas the intersection of economic, environmental, and social performance refers to sustainability. Despite many studies being undertaken by various academics, there is still a lack of research on the connection between green supply chain practices and sustainability performance in export manufacturing enterprises in Sri Lanka's Western Province. The goal of this research is to investigate the influence of green supply chain practices on a company's sustainable performance. The two aims are to determine the connection between GSCM and sustainability performance as well as to assess the influence of GSCM methods on sustainability achievement. To collect the data, a field survey technique and a closed-ended questionnaire were employed for 141 EPZ-registered export manufacturing companies in the western province. Simple random sampling was used to collect primary data, and responses were processed in SPSS using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Responses from both managerial and non-managerial levels were examined here. Except for green purchasing, the study revealed that eco-design, environmental cooperation, and reverse logistics all have a beneficial impact on environmental performance. Apart from green purchasing, environmental cooperation, and reverse logistics, only eco-design has a beneficial influence on economic performance, while only eco-design and reverse logistics have a favourable impact on social performance.
