This study demonstrates a method based on the Ant-Lion Optimizer (ALO), a nature-inspired algorithm inspired by the ant lion's hunting strategy. The optimization of the ALO method is used to solve the issues in “Economic Load Dispatch" (ELD) and further reduce the operational cost of the load dispatch system. Applying ALO to power system optimization for different generators involves customizing the algorithm to suit the specific problem. This includes appropriately defining the objective function, decision variables, constraints specific to power system operation and the characteristics of different generators (e.g., thermal, hydro, wind, and solar). This method has been tested in the present study on 3-, 6-, 20-, and 40-unit systems with and without losses. The results have been interpreted using MATLAB and Simulink to show the effectiveness of the ALO technique and prove that this technique is economically more beneficial than others.
