Abstract

This research paper presents a comprehensive framework for integrating Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) technologies in smart buildings to enhance energy savings and occupant comfort. As the demand for sustainable urban development intensifies, smart buildings equipped with IoT and M2M capabilities can significantly optimize energy management through real-time data collection and automated control systems. The proposed framework outlines essential components, including sensors, gateways, building automation systems, and data analytics platforms that facilitate seamless integration and interoperability among diverse technologies. Furthermore, the paper addresses critical challenges such as data privacy, system integration, and compatibility issues that may impede effective implementation. Through case studies demonstrating successful applications of the framework, this study highlights substantial improvements in energy efficiency and occupant satisfaction. The findings underscore the transformative potential of IoT and M2M technologies in creating sustainable built environments that prioritize both energy efficiency and user experience.
