Blockchain technology has emerged as a revolutionary force in enhancing data integrity, security, and transparency across numerous industries. One of the most promising applications lies in supply chain management (SCM), where traceability, accountability, and trust are paramount. Traditional supply chains face numerous challenges, including data manipulation, fraud, lack of real-time tracking, and inefficient manual processes. Blockchain technology offers a transformative solution by providing a decentralized, tamper-proof ledger that enables all supply chain participants to securely share data without the need for intermediaries.
This paper explores how blockchain improves traceability, reduces fraud, prevents counterfeiting, and enables real-time tracking of products throughout the supply chain. It discusses smart contracts, decentralized consensus mechanisms, and blockchain interoperability, which are critical for efficient supply chain operations. Additionally, real-world applications such as Walmart’s food safety initiative and IBM’s TradeLens are analyzed. The study also highlights technical challenges, legal considerations, and the future of blockchain in SCM. By the end of this paper, we provide insights into how blockchain can lead to a more secure, transparent, and efficient supply chain ecosystem.
