Abstract

Ensuring efficient patient care in hospitals involves monitoring fluid administration accurately. The intravenous (IV) drip system plays a crucial role in regulating the flow of fluids and electrolytes into a patient’s bloodstream, particularly for those in intensive care units (ICUs). However, the high patient-to-nurse ratio in hospitals can lead to delayed interventions, which may result in serious health complications or, in extreme cases, fatalities. Due to heavy workloads, medical staff may unintentionally overlook IV fluid depletion, causing delays in bottle replacement. To mitigate this issue, an IoT-based IV drip monitoring system is proposed. This system utilizes a weight sensor to detect fluid levels in the IV bottle and transmits real-time data through IoT, ensuring timely alerts and interventions.
