The industrial internet of things (IIoT) is a cornerstone of modern industrial transformation, enabling data-driven optimization by connecting machinery and enterprise systems. This study is a review of the primary applications of IIoT, including predictive maintenance and asset tracking in smart factories, as well as the significant challenges that impede its implementation. Key obstacles discussed include the lack of interoperability between devices, critical security risks, and the complexity of managing massive data volumes. The study concludes that overcoming these technical and security hurdles is essential for industries to fully leverage IIoT for enhanced efficiency, safety, and innovation.
