Amidst the rapid digitization of our world, issues like copyright infringement and ownership disputes have become increasingly common especially in creative content. Traditional systems for managing copyright often fall short; they’re typically slow, expensive, and rely on centralized structures, making them vulnerable and difficult to scale. Blockchain technology offers a compelling alternative thanks to its decentralized, transparent, and tamper-proof nature.
In this paper, we introduce a blockchain-based platform for copyright confirmation, built using Hyperledger Fabric a consortium blockchain framework designed for secure, permissioned collaboration. The platform enables users to register their digital works, check for originality, and obtain verifiable copyright certificates. To ensure originality, submitted content is first evaluated using perceptual and difference hash algorithms for plagiarism detection.
To improve efficiency, large files are stored off-chain using IPFS (InterPlanetary File System), with only their cryptographic hashes recorded on the blockchain. Smart contracts automate key functions such as registration, ownership validation, and dispute resolution. Additionally, the system features role-based access control for security and a user-friendly web interface, allowing even non-technical users to navigate the platform easily.
Compared to existing approaches, our solution offers stronger security, better scalability, and broader applicability across various types of digital assets. By combining blockchain with originality checks and automation, the platform provides a practical and forward-looking solution for modern copyright challenges, empowering creators to protect their work with confidence.
