Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly influenced teaching–learning methods in higher education, particularly with the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and online platforms. In nursing education, where accuracy and evidence-based learning are essential, understanding students’ learning preferences becomes crucial for effective academic planning. The present study aimed to assess learning preferences towards AI tools, online platforms, and library resources among B.Sc. Nursing students at JSS College of Nursing, Chamarajanagar. A quantitative descriptive research design was adopted, and data were collected from 120 students using a self-structured questionnaire. The findings revealed that a majority of students frequently used AI tools and online platforms for academic purposes, particularly for content clarification and assignment preparation. Most participants reported that AI tools helped in understanding difficult concepts; however, only a smaller proportion consistently verified the information with reliable sources. Despite the growing use of digital resources, library-based learning continues to play an important supportive role among students. The study concludes that B.Sc. Nursing students show a preference towards AI tools and online platforms due to their accessibility and convenience, while traditional library resources remain essential for ensuring authenticity and depth of knowledge. A balanced approach integrating both digital and conventional learning methods is recommended to promote effective and responsible learning among nursing students.
