The nursing profession is undergoing profound transformation as it responds to global health challenges, technological advancements, and evolving healthcare demands. This review examines the strategic priorities and emerging trends that are shaping the future of nursing, drawing heavily on recent international frameworks, including the 2024 ICN Declaration and WHO guidelines. Key themes include smarter investments in nursing, digital health integration, leadership empowerment, workforce planning, and nursing’s pivotal role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The article also highlights efforts in India that align with global strategies, including reforms in nursing education, regulation, and service delivery. Addressing workforce shortages, enhancing work environments, and ensuring equitable access to care are essential for sustaining progress. This review underscores the critical need for strategic policy support and innovative practice to empower nurses and elevate the profession on the global health agenda.
