A Study to Assess the Knowledge Regarding Prevention of Breast Complications and Its Management Among the Primigravida Women with A View to Develop an Information Booklet in Selected Hospital of Bhuj Kutch

Introduction: The study shows that the only 5% primigravida women had adequate knowledge, where 45% women had moderately adequate knowledge and 12% women had inadequate knowledge regarding prevention and management of breast complications it shows that there is a need of providing the knowledge on breast complications and its management among the mothers to reduce the number of the occurrence of the breast problem. Methodology: To assess the knowledge regarding prevention of breast complications and their management among the primigravida women. A non-experimental descriptive study was conducted among 60 Primigravida women available at selected hospital in Bhuj Kutch at the time of data collection. Non probability purposive sampling was adopted. The data were collected with help of self structured tool contain a structured questionnaire and variables include Weeks of pregnancy, Age of the women, Previous breast complication, Performing breast self -examination, Education, Residential area. Result: There is highly significant association between the pretest level of knowledge and demographic variables such as primigravida mother week of pregnancy (6.88), age (8.41), diet (14.1), previous breast complication (8.41), education (37.94), lifestyle (63.33), living area (16.14) study result explain that the mean score of pre-test level of knowledge is 15.52 and SD value is 3.77. Conclusion: The study result revealed that the primigravida mothers were having lack of knowledge regarding breast complication. The findings of study were suggestive of a need to conduct research to assess the knowledge & some strategies to improve the awareness of primigravida mothers regarding prevention and management of breast complication. The study shows that the majority of the primigravida mothers were having moderately adequate regarding knowledge of breast complication among primigravida women in selected hospitals of Bhuj Kachchh, Gujarat.
