This article explores the adverse effects of self-medication, including kidney failure, liver damage, gastrointestinal issues, and addiction. It highlights the prevalence of kidney and liver diseases linked to self-medication, focusing on global data and specific insights from India, Jammu, and Kashmir. The role of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) in combating self-medication is discussed, emphasizing the need for strict regulation, public awareness campaigns, and educational programs. The conclusion stresses the importance of seeking professional medical advice and implementing robust measures to prevent the misuse of medications.
