As summer ends, many changes will occur in an individual's life, like reopening school, returning from vacation, new job tasks, and changing seasons. It may create a lot of experiences like stress, anxiety, and fear. Positive thinking means self-talk. It is an endless stream of your unspoken thoughts. This type of thought may be positive /negative. The majority of your self-talk comes through logical reasoning. Other self-talk may arise from misconceptions you create due to poor information, over-expectations and preconceived ideas. Negative thinking identification is Filtering, Personalizing, Catastrophizing, and Blaming, Saying you "should" do something, Magnifying, Perfectionism, and Polarizing. You can learn to change negative thinking into positive thinking. The process is simple, but it takes time to practice. You are creating a new habit. If you want a negative outlook, do not expect to become an optimist overnight. You can achieve this through self-talk; your self-talk will display low self-criticism and more self-acceptance. You may also become less critical of the world around you. When more optimistic, you can easily handle everyday stressful situations more constructively. This ability may project with the widely observed health benefits of positive thinking.
