Abstract

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is a common neurodevelopment condition affecting children's social interactions, academic performance, and overall quality of life. Effective management of Attention-Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder sometimes includes pharmacological treatment, yet medication adherence remains a major challenge. This study assesses the impact of family involvement on medication adherence among children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. It explores how factors such as parental education, socioeconomic status, family structure, and caregiving support influence children's compliance with prescribed treatment. A conceptual framework was used to analyze the interactions between child-related factors, external influences, and family dynamics. The findings suggest that increased family engagement significantly improves medication adherence, leading to better symptom control and enhanced psychosocial outcomes for children. Nurses are uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between healthcare and home environments, advocating for collaborative care models to reduce treatment non-compliance and enhance Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder management.

Conclusion: This study underscores the crucial role that family involvement plays in improving medication adherence among children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. When families are informed, supported, and actively engaged in the treatment process, children demonstrate better compliance, symptom control, and overall well-being. The findings highlight the need for healthcare systems, especially nursing professionals. This study is expected to provide insights into the relationship between family involvement and medication adherence among ADHD children. It expected to explain the common reasons for medication adherence and explain demographic factors that influence adherence levels and family involvement.
