Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that affects millions globally, leading to various psychosocial complications such as anxiety, depression, and diabetes-related distress. Managing diabetes requires strict adherence to treatment, which can cause a significant emotional burden. Psychoeducational interventions have been shown to improve psychological well-being and diabetes self-management. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a psychoeducation program in reducing psychosocial problems among diabetic clients in a rural community. Diabetes mellitus is a long-term, systemic condition marked by either insufficient insulin or a diminished body's capacity to utilize insulin. Patients with diabetes mellitus and healthcare professionals alike occasionally refer to the condition as "high sugar." Because poorly controlled diabetes is characterized by the passage of significant amounts of sugar-laden urine, the idea that sugar and diabetes are related is valid. Although elevated blood glucose levels are only one aspect of the pathological process and clinical signs linked to severe complications, diabetics can lower their risk of experiencing these events by taking preventative actions. It is crucial to educate diabetic clients about the causes, symptoms, risk factors, and psychological issues associated with diabetes, as well as how to prevent and manage it. Additionally, the diabetic customers' level of psychological issues has somewhat decreased as a result of health education and training initiatives. Therefore, research on psychosocial issues is necessary, as is raising awareness among diabetic clients about diabetes mellitus and its psychosocial issues.
