Abstract

Introduction: Varicose Veins is a dilatation of the veins. Results: Frequency and percentage distribution technique was applied to assess the prevalence of Varicose Veins. The finding revealed that 32.5% staff nurses have Varicose Veins. Chi-Square (χ2) test of independence was then used to assess the association and risk factors of Varicose Veins. The findings revealed that at the 0.05 level, there was a significant association between the prevalence rate of Varicose Veins and all selected demographic variables except history of abortion. Conclusion: The findings conclude that there is a high prevalence rate of Varicose Veins. H1 which stated that there is a significant association between prevalence rate of Varicose Veins and selected demographic variables was accepted for all selected demographic variables except history of abortion. H2, which stated that there is a significant increase in the prevalence of Varicose Veins among staff nurses working in busy wards, was also accepted.
