A Comparative Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Lecture Method of Learning and Video-Assisted Learning on Lumbar Puncture among Second Semester Students at Nightingale College of Nursing, Nedumangadu

The present study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the lecture method of learning and video-assisted method of learning on lumbar puncture among 2nd semester B. Sc. Nursing students of Nightingale College of Nursing, Nedumangadu. The objectives of the study were to assess the significant comparison between the lecture method of learning and the video-assisted method of learning, and the association between the effectiveness of the lecture method of learning and video-assisted learning. The conceptual framework of the study is based on J. W. Kenny's open system. The true experimental design used in the study of 48 nursing students within the age group of 18 – 22 years was selected by simple random sampling with a lottery method. Knowledge was assessed by a questionnaire. After data collection, in the lecture method of learning among 24 students, 88% of students had good scores, 8% of students had average scores, and 4% of students had poor scores. In video-assisted learning, among 24 students 100% had very good scores.
