Abstract

A fracture is a disruption in the continuity of the bone structure, occurring when the bone is subjected to stress beyond its capacity to withstand. Standard fracture management involves techniques such as closed or open reduction, immobilization, and the restoration of normal function and strength through rehabilitation. Recent studies have highlighted the growing benefits and rapid advancements in the utilization of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) technology to enhancing bone repairing. It is essential for staff nurses to be familiar with LIPUS treatment and its application in healthcare settings. Recognizing this need, the investigator aimed to educate staff nurses about the major function of LIPUS in fracture healing. A one-group pretest-post-test design which is the type of pre-experimental study design was utilized to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured teaching program (STP) on Low-Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound treatment in fracture healing among staff nurses. The reliability of tool was confirmed, and its validation was ensured with input from guides and nursing experts. The research was done at Basappa Memorial Hospital and Cauvery Hospital in Mysore. Participants were choosed using a non-probability method, sampling method is convenient. The collected facts were analysed using inferential and descriptive statistics. The results showed that the mean post-test score 25.45 was significantly higher than the mean found in pre-test score 14.363, with a mean difference that was statistically significant at the 5% level (t = 21.82, p < 0.01). The findings concluded that the structured teaching program effectively improved the participants' knowledge of LIPUS treatment. However, no association was found between the nurses' knowledge levels and effectiveness of this program.
