Abstract

The present study aims to assess and compare the required nutritional needs and actual Intake of nutrients in non-insulin-dependent diabetic patients. This study involved a multistage random sampling technique. Thirty patients admitted to a Tertiary Care Centre in Pune were selected for the study. Anthropometric measures and dietary patterns of the diabetic subjects were noted. Statistical tests have been used, and the result was that in the diet recall, average consumption of Fat (g) and Carbohydrates (g) was significant at a 95% confidence interval (p<0.05) when a t-test was used. In contrast, total calorie (kcal) intake and protein (g) intake were not significant (p>0.05).
