Digital Loneliness: Are We Truly Connected?
Abstract
In an age where digital technology enables constant connectivity, the paradox of “digital loneliness” becomes increasingly prominent. Despite the surge in social media usage, video calls, and instant messaging platforms, a growing number of individuals report feeling isolated, emotionally detached, and unfulfilled in their interactions. This paper delves into the psychological and societal implications of digital loneliness, analyzing how the illusion of connection may be contributing to a silent mental health crisis. Drawing from current research, social behavior patterns, and technological influences, the paper questions whether we are truly connected in meaningful ways or merely creating an illusion of togetherness behind screens.
