To maximize total performance, it entails integrating a variety of components, including people, money, expertise, information, and equipment. Industrial engineers are essential to maintaining the efficiency of systems and processes in manufacturing operations. They make use of engineering analysis and design principles as well as the mathematical, physical, and social sciences. Industrial engineers are capable of defining, projecting, and assessing the results of various systems and processes through the use of their specific knowledge and abilities. Industrial engineering concepts are essential to manufacturing to optimize processes, save waste, boost output, and improve quality. This could entail creating workspace layouts that maximize productivity, putting in place effective production schedules, and improving supply chain administration or improving procedures for quality control. The ultimate goal of industrial engineering is to optimize output while reducing expenses and resources, which greatly enhances the competitiveness and success of manufacturing companies. The application of industrial engineering principles facilitates the creation of effective labour, material, and machinery coordination systems that raise productivity and quality. Industrial engineering has its roots in the Industrial Revolution, when devices like the steam engine, flying shuttle, and spinning jenny automated manual tasks and allowed for large production in centralized areas. These developments shaped the development of industrial engineering as a field concerned with manufacturing process optimization and established the groundwork for contemporary production systems.
Dhakshna Moorthy D Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Industrial Mechanics 2024-04-01 2024-04-01 9 1 6 13 An Overview of New Method to Produce Holes on Mulching Paper without Pollution Along with Significant Reduction in Time Consumption https://matjournals.net/engineering/index.php/JoIM/article/view/100
The agricultural industry heavily relies on mulching paper to improve soil health, control weeds, and retain water. However, the conventional method of creating holes in the paper involves using coal-fired heat, which contributes to environmental degradation and greenhouse gas emissions. To address the need for sustainable farming practices, this project introduces a clean and efficient alternative called electrified perforation. One notable advantage of this electricity-driven perforation method is the significant reduction in time needed to reheat the tool used for creating holes. Unlike the traditional process, which requires reheating the coal-powered tool between each hole, the electrified method allows for rapid and consistent heat application. This saves valuable time in the overall production process. The electrified perforation system uses controlled electric pulses to generate localized heat, eliminating the reliance on fossil fuels and ensuring precise and effective whole creation in the mulching paper. By optimizing parameters such as voltage, pulse duration, and frequency, the aim is to establish a reliable and environmentally friendly method that not only meets agricultural requirements but also aligns with the global shift towards cleaner technologies. This project not only addresses the environmental concerns associated with traditional methods, but also examines the economic viability, overall performance, and time-saving benefits of using electricity-based perforation for mulching paper production.
Yogesh S.
