Solutions to Improve HSE Principles in Road Projects: A Comprehensive Review

Injuries related to non-compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) principles at road construction sites cause a significant number of casualties worldwide each year. This study redefines HSE concepts specifically for the road construction industry and highlights their critical importance to society. The research evaluates various approaches to implementing effective HSE strategies in this sector. Furthermore, it investigates the causes of injuries and identifies legal gaps due to insufficient specialized knowledge of relevant laws. By consulting industry professionals, forensic experts, and labor and social security specialists, and analyzing statistics from related organizations, this study proposes practical solutions aimed at minimizing the human and financial impacts of workplace injuries. The assessment framework considers the entire lifecycle of road projects, including design, operation, maintenance, and expansion phases. Finally, this paper provides a comprehensive review of HSE practices in road projects, identifies current research challenges, and suggests future directions for improving HSE implementation in the industry.
