Abstract

In Bangladesh, Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (BJKS) reports that in the last five years, 28557 traffic accidents have claimed the lives of around 32541 persons. Roughly, 90% of those collisions were caused by the driver’s error or shortcoming. This study aimed to identify the risk factors associated with drivers and vehicles for auto accidents in Bangladesh. In this study, an analysis of police-reported accident data has been conducted to assess trends in traffic accidents and fatalities, examining the annual total number of accidents and registered vehicles. Then, as primary independent variables, we selected a few risk factors, such as driving while intoxicated, health issues, driving while unlawful, exhaustion, gender, type of vehicle, overload, brake problems, professional driver status, weather, and time attribute, among others. In pedestrian and non-motor vehicle accidents, the three most frequent factors were age, administrative division, and time of year. The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and the Bangladesh Roads and Highway Authority provided us with the data. We answered a poll about a few drivers. Next, we examined every report to identify some elements strongly linked to road accidents. We employ statistical analysis. We also use the multiple regression method to determine a relation. Road length is not appropriately expanded, which is one of the many important elements that impact road accidents. Other important factors that influence road accidents include driver fatigue and excessive driving time. After that analysis, we identified the factors influencing Bangladeshi traffic accidents.
