This study presents the linearization of a non-linear oscillation of a centrifugal governor with a novel mathematical approach. The paper illustrates the attenuation and eventual linearization of the nonlinear behavior of the centrifugal governor. It is observed that the decrease in amplitude (attenuation) increases as time progresses, establishing its dependence on time. The attenuation at about 7 seconds gradually turned to a completely linearized system, proving the efficacy of this mathematical approach of linearizing equation 1, which is the mathematical behaviour (nonlinear), of the centrifugal governor. Results obtained have demonstrated that the present study with a novel mathematical approach on attenuation fits well not only on the small amplitude, but also on the large value in a centrifugal governor.
