Shrink fit technology is one of the most preferred tool-holding systems for milling operation, exhibiting superior precision, rigidity, and dynamic stability. Tool holding using shrink-fit machines is explored in this review, detailing the underlying principles of induction heating and its influence on milling performance. Efficient thermal expansion for seamless tool insertion is achieved through rapid and uniform tool holder heating using induction heating. After that, cooling guarantees a good high strength interference fit for an absolutely unique clamping force and exactness. The study synthesizes recent findings of induction heating effects on tool life, machining accuracy, surface finish, and overall operational efficiency. It also discusses thermal and mechanical properties necessary for the process and issues of material compatibility. The potential of this shrink fit technology to improve milling operations is highlighted and discussed in this comprehensive review and avenues for future research to optimize industrial adoption are identified.
